September is Recovery Month – a time to celebrate the strength of people in recovery, raise awareness of addiction, and highlight the supports that make recovery possible. At Tabor Group, we believe recovery is not only possible but happening every day, and this month we join communities across Ireland in shining a light on hope, resilience, and transformation.
What is Recovery Month?
Recovery Month is observed every September to:
- Share stories of people in recovery
- Reduce stigma around addiction
- Highlight treatment and support services
- Encourage families and communities to get involved
It’s a chance to show that recovery is a journey of courage, support, and possibility.
Tabor Group’s Approach
For over 30 years, Tabor Group has supported people and families affected by addiction. Through our residential treatment centres, community programmes, continuing care, and family supports, we take a holistic, person-centred approach. Recovery is more than treatment — it’s building a healthier, hopeful future supported by community and connection.
Recovery Month Events at Tabor Group
This September, Tabor Group is proud to host a series of events to mark Recovery Month. These gatherings aim to inspire, educate, and bring people together to celebrate recovery:
- A Conversation with Dr. Brian Pennie, PhD – exploring science, resilience, and lived experience in recovery.
- Flagship Event at Cork City Hall – featuring powerful voices, stories of hope, and discussions on forgiveness, resilience, and inclusion.
- Community Activities – talks, open days, family support events, and peer-led sessions throughout the month, offering connection and understanding.
These events are open to all people in recovery, families, professionals, and anyone curious to learn more about addiction and recovery.
Why It Matters
- Breaking Stigma: Recovery Month challenges myths and helps reduce shame, making it easier for people to seek support.
- Building Community: Recovery thrives in connection. Events bring together peers, families, and communities to support one another.
- Raising Awareness: Many are unaware of the treatment options available. Recovery Month highlights support like Tabor Lodge, Tabor Fellowship, and our continuing care programmes.
- Inspiring Hope: Every recovery story reminds us that transformation is possible.

Looking Ahead
Recovery is not a single step and it’s a journey that takes time, patience, and community. At Tabor Group, we are committed to walking that journey with individuals and families, providing the care and supports that make recovery sustainable.
This Recovery Month, we honour those in recovery, support those still struggling, and celebrate the families and communities who walk alongside them. Recovery is possible- and together, we can make it a reality.
